Norris: "We're a little behind today compared to other Fridays"

Charles Leclerc topped the first practice session in Mexico City, while Red Bull driver Max Verstappen topped the second practice session.

Lando Norris was replaced by Pato O'Ward in the first practice session, finishing fourth in the session held on Friday afternoon local time.

Speaking after Friday, the McLaren driver said that although he was not complaining about the performance, they started Friday a little further behind than they expected.

"I think overall we're not in a bad position," Norris said.

"Frankly, I was surprised how quickly I got up to speed. My first lap was pretty good, and I had a good pace in the second lap."

"It wasn't a bad day, but usually we're very strong on Fridays and everyone catches up on Saturday. This time we started a little behind."

"So we definitely have work to do tonight."

"The main problem is that the balance of the car is a bit unstable, we've had a similar situation for the last few weeks."

"We're struggling a bit right now, especially with the single-lap performance. But we're working hard, trying everything we can. We'll see what we can find tonight," he said.
